When our ancestors came from Germany on a ship called The Ben Nevis in 1854 they brought the original recipe with them for the Noodles that are still made by hand by the ladies at the Texas Wendish Heritage Society in Serbin TX where our immigrated ancestors first established homes and a church. They tell us that this art is dying out since the ladies are getting older. They are trying to find younger women interested in making these noodles.

Our Wendish ancestors came to America for religious freedom and to establish homes.

Pat the baker is not coming because she is moving 2 hours away. She may attend occasionally when she comes to visit her family.

Proposed Septage Dumping on Littig Road
Septage
Navigation Letters to:
Senator Watson, Representative Dawnna Dukes

Our neighborhood is threatened with septage dumping!
“Septage” is material pumped from septic tanks – generally considered much more dangerous than treated waste (“sludge”) from a sewage plant. The proposal is to dump septage on 78+ acres of property north of Littig Rd between Parsons Rd and Jones Rd. This septage is likely to be trucked in from outside Travis County – including areas near Dripping Springs, in Hays County.

15-Minute Sautéed Chicken Breasts with Mustard and Tarragon

Prep and Cook Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
1 medium onion cut in half and sliced medium thick
5 medium cloves garlic, pressed
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
3 TBS Dijon mustard
1 TBS + 1/2 cup chicken broth
2 tsp honey

2 TBS chopped fresh parsley (or 2 tsp dried parsley)
salt and white pepper to taste
Directions:
Slice onion and press garlic and let sit for 5-10 minutes to bring out their hidden health benefits.
Heat 1 TBS broth in a 10-12 inch stainless steel skillet. Healthy Saute onion in broth over medium heat for 2 minutes.
While onions are sauteeing, cut chicken into pieces. Add chicken pieces and continue to saute for another 3 minutes, stirring frequently to seal chicken on all sides. Add garlic and continue to saute for another minute.
Add mustard, 1/2 cup broth, and honey. Mix thoroughly and simmer uncovered for about 7-8 minutes on medium-high heat stirring occasionally to cook chicken evenly. This will also reduce sauce.

Marketing for market

Several members of the Manor Farmers' market attended the marketing seminar hosted by the Manor Chamber of Commerce today. Said we should blog more. So here I am. The lunch was provided by Adrian of The Gardeners Feast located across from manor Grocery. Catering and delivery available.

Next week the chamber is sponsoring a customer service workshop put on by LCRA. Need a couple more people to sign up!
