Garden Party Project

The Garden Party Project, an off shoot of the farmers' market, has been installing vegetable gardens in the Manor community for two years. Our newest garden at the East Rural Community Center has had thirteen seniors sign up for 4’ X4’ raised bed plots. The project provides raised beds, soil, compost, mulch, seeds, tools and instruction on Square Foot Gardening.

This week The Garden Party Project has been approved by Citizen Gardener as a partner garden. This means you may take the Citizen Gardener courses for free if you promise to volunteer for ten hours in an approved garden. Approved gardens in Manor include the ERCC senior gardens and gardens at several MISD campuses.

If you are interested in growing your own food, getting exercise, fresh air and sunshine with your family here is your opportunity. There are three more gardening instruction sets left this spring. Courses run two Saturday mornings and one Wednesday evening for a total of ten hours. The next class opening starts February 27th.
