IT'S FISH FRY FRIDAY AT MANOR LIONS CLUB. Come out and support our community, enjoy a great meal with family and friends at Lions Hall on Lexington in dowtown Manor this Friday. From 5PM until they run out of fish Manor Lions will be serving fresh hand breaded catfish with Herb's secret recipe, homemade slaw & beans, potato wedges, hush puppies & iced tea for only $7.50 per plate. The Lady Lions will be serving slices of homemade cake and cups of coffee for fifty cents each.
Kala writes:I have good news. I got FIRST place in my green salsa and SECOND place in my mango chutney. I also got the 'WHOLE OF FLAME' award for getting award three times in a row. Some people waited for 15 years to get this and I got it in three years. I am very happy to get this. I will come to the market to share the trophy and be with my friends. Frank with Manor Honey writes: I have extracted my honey from the cotton fields north of Manor and have a pretty fair crop. I will be adding Cotton-Blossom Blend to the current products--Spring Wildflower and Bee Tree Blends. We will also be scheduling the Wednesday market for the first and third weeks each month until stock runs out(should have enough to go thru December).
Burt's Texas Garden: again this week, we will have our READY TO FRY OKRA (it's already cut, breaded, bagged, and frozen for you...from our garden to your frying pan)! We'll also have DILL PICKLES, CHILE PEQUIN PEPPERS, and everyone's favorite CORN DIP. Come see us!
Munkebo farm will bring okra, cantaloupes, cactus fruit, pears, magenta spreen, butternut squash, acorn squash, serrano peppers, basil, oregano, fig/grape jam, concord grape jam, cactus fruit/pear jam, duck eggs, artichoke dip, balsamic vinaigrette, pesto, quiche and organic blueberry pie.
Green Grass Meat writes: Cutlets, buy 2 and the third on is free. That's 33% off two or four pack.

Mata Tamales: will be at the market with tamales made by three generations of the Mata family here in Manor. Pork, beef, chicken, spicy bean and cheese or a mixed batch. Francesca will have empanadas.
Ray the Noodle Man: will have homemade Texas Wendish Heritage Society noodles for sale. Just like his Momma used to make using only flour, eggs and salt.
Pat the Baker Lady will have Brownie pie, banana walnut muffins, apple walnut bread, carrot cake, peach cobbler, individual peach, strawberry, raspberry and sweet potato pies
Cotton Candy Kidz will have bows and headband accessories for "Home Coming" which is just around the corner! Will have Texas Longhorn and Dallas Cowboys Bows this week! If you are in need of customized baby wipe cases we have the perfect one for you! We also have head bands, bows and bow holders; everything you need to make that special girl feel like a princess!
Bikkurim and Gordon haven't checked in yet. Last week they had the following and I imagine it will be similar this week.
For the market this week we will have an array of locally grown summer vegetables including: EGGPLANT! zucchini and yellow squash, tomatoes, potatoes, cucumber, okra and black eyed peas. Peach preserves, blackberry jelly, fig preserves, Spaghetti sauce, tomato soup and someone had asked for SALSA last week so Sylvia is going to make some to go on the Tamales from the Mata family.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST
ManorFest is coming up the first weekend in October. Starting the evening of Friday, October 1st running through Saturday late afternoon. This year, for the first time ever, the Manor Lions Club and the Manor Chamber of Commerce have gone in cahoots together to make this an even bigger, better, more fun with even more activities than ever before. We invite you to participate in all the different events that will be going on all around town.
Friday starts off in the evening with live music, BBQ Cook Off, a 42 Dominoes Tournament at 7PM and frozen T-Shirt contests. If you want to know what a frozen T-shirt Contest is I'll tell you. We take T-shirts, get them wet, roll them up tight and put them in the freezer Thursday night. Friday evening I'll start selling tickets. The objective is to get your Frozen T-shirt unrolled and put it on. The first to succeed is the winner of cash and prizes. It is a HOOT! I'll be doing children and adult contests. Come cheer us on.
Saturday AM includes a 5K Race around the Manor High School starting at 8AM. Parade line up at 9Am with the parade starting at 10 AM. And the always delicious Bake-Off. Judges will be needed. Get your family your neighborhood, church group, scouts 4-H to sign up for these family friendly events.
The other events lined up for Saturday include a Hot Rod & Car Show across from Ramos Restaurant Call Doug Parker @512 713 0057 or Bryan Kerley @512 251 7794. More live music. BBQ Cook Off, Cow Chip Bingo, Childrens' Area, Crafts Fair, Live Auction and Washer Tournament.
