Saturday Afternoon Market

Great market this Saturday at New Tech High School from 3 to 7PM.

All the veggies you need for the week including beautiful homegrown heirloom tomatoes. These tomatoes are so delicious and sweet and at their peak right now.

Tomatoes freeze well. Just set them on a cookie sheet until solid then place in freezer bags. Skins slip off easily when partially thawed. Great for soups, stews or winter pots chili. Squash may be sliced and frozen using the same method.

If you ever wanted to try your hand at canning now is the time. It is pretty easy just takes a little time. The difference in home canned and store bought is significant. There should be recipes all over the internet. Perfect for canning right now are peaches, apricots, plums, green beans, potatoes, squash, tomatoes and of course cucumbers for pickles- sweet or dill.

Canning is a great family activity. How many of us remember canning with our Grandmothers and Mothers? The smells, the colors the jars boiling on the stove. Get close to your food grown right here in beautiful Manor Texas.
