Meat & More at. the New Sat. Market ! June 26

Jackson Farms and Tex-Cess Lowline Angus Beef - Our small family owned and operated farm here on Bois D'Arc Lane has developed our Lowline Angus herd to provide breeding seed stock and natural hand-raised beef to a discerning market that demands quality meat that"s free from hormones, antibiotics and chemical additives. We only use preventative vaccinations for our calves at 30 to 60 days of age. We strive to operate our farm based on organic principles. Although we have not achieved organic certification for the farm, our pasture has not seen the use of herbicides or commercial fertilizers for over 10 years. Our Lowline Angus cuts of beef are smaller, but flavor is excellent! We use a USDA certified slaughter house (Harvest House) in Johnson City and all of our beef is USDA inspected, with “actual weight” displayed on the “see-through” vacuum-sealed package. No guessing of “mystery” meat here – you actually see what you are getting!

A Wild Soap Bar is a family owned, local micro-business serving up wildly aromatic, truly natural native soaps & body balms for your ultimate bathing pleasure since 1995. AWSB products are sold at Whole Foods, Central Market, select HEB's and fine boutiques across the country. But you can take advantage of their special discounted farmers market prices right here in Manor! Use the contact form on the website to order any item for special delivery to the market or simply browse their weekly selection when you get there. The Soap Bartender would absolutely love to meet you, so stop by and say hello.

Bikkurim Farms has been growing organic vegetables for Farmers' Markets for fifteen years in Central Texas. This week, from here in Manor and their sister farm in Blue, Sylvia will bring WATERMELON, the first of the season, black eyed peas, okra, tomatoes, cucumbers, freshly dug new red potatoes, squash and peppers.

Laverne's Vegetable Patch for Saturday's market will have cucumbers, yellow squash, tomatoes and hot peppers. Also for sale will be cute little beaded stretch bracelets and neck coolies.

Support our local students: Healthkick Martial Arts will be selling cold water to raise money for upcoming boxing trip to New Mexico (One Life One Goal).

Gordon Taylor will be at the market with a wide variety of squash from his family farm in Cele about eight miles away. I know some of you have been asking for Cashaw, similar to pumpkin, Gordon has it. He has zucchini, yellow summer and crook neck, acorn, butternut and spaghetti. Also, sweet peppers from chocolate bells to Big Bertha roasting peppers. Tomatoes, Purple German shallots onions, okra & sweet tender carrots too. Cantaloupe next week God willing and the creek don't rise.

New to the market this week is Trantham Farm from Webberville. Thomas and Nelwyn will be bring PEACHES picked that morning from their trees. Try a real peach from right down the road.

Gardeners Feast will return to the market next week with organic vegan, vegetarian & meat tamales made from locally sourced vegetables and cheese.

Manor Farmers' Markets are always needing help from volunteers. We would like the ability to take WIC and SNAP vouchers but don't have the staff to wade through the paper work. We have installed several vegetable gardens in Manor schools and one at the East Rural Community Center. If you would like a garden in your community let me know and I can tell you how to do it. We need help putting up the signs and setting up the market. We are always seeking entertainment for the markets. And could use a grant writer. This is great way to get involved in your community, help your neighbors and meet really nice people.

Manor Farmers' Market would like to thank all the local businesses and organizations that make this possible each week: Manor Veterinary Hospital, Jonse Farmers Insurance, Manor Chamber of Commerce and our parent organization the East Rural Community Center a 501(c)3 non profit serving Eastern Rural Travis County.
