Farm Fresh Garden Salad - Manor Style

Look what I made today from 100% locally grown produce from the Manor Farmers Market! A fresh garden salad featuring organic spinach, tomatoes, red bell peppers, green onions, and pastured eggs from happy healthy chickens. Now I realize there's nothing terribly unusual about that combination...but I actually KNOW the farmer that grew each and every one of these ingredients! Can you say that about your food???

Find your local farmers market and start eating fresh.

Garden Party Project

The Garden Party Project, an off shoot of the farmers' market, has been installing vegetable gardens in the Manor community for two years. Our newest garden at the East Rural Community Center has had thirteen seniors sign up for 4’ X4’ raised bed plots. The project provides raised beds, soil, compost, mulch, seeds, tools and instruction on Square Foot Gardening.

This week The Garden Party Project has been approved by Citizen Gardener as a partner garden. This means you may take the Citizen Gardener courses for free if you promise to volunteer for ten hours in an approved garden. Approved gardens in Manor include the ERCC senior gardens and gardens at several MISD campuses.

If you are interested in growing your own food, getting exercise, fresh air and sunshine with your family here is your opportunity. There are three more gardening instruction sets left this spring. Courses run two Saturday mornings and one Wednesday evening for a total of ten hours. The next class opening starts February 27th.

Visit Citizen Gardener at: http://citizengardener.ning.com/.

The Manor Farmers' Market and associated Garden Party Project is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization run completely by volunteers and relies on donations to support its activities. If you wish to contribute your time, expertise, tools, supplies or money all donations are tax deductible. Please contact Denise at the Manor Farmers' Market manager@manorfarmersmarket.org or 278-1611 for more information.

Feb. 10 Market Cancelled

Once again, the Manor Farmers Market has been cancelled due to cold and rainy weather. The lack of sunshine is seriously taking its toll. Hopefully, conditions will improve and we can resume the Market next week. Stay tuned!
